Friends, countrymen (though I'm pretty sure you can't get internet access in the country) join me. Let us rise up and stop the f***ing stupidity on the internet.
Everyday we're bombarded with posts that are later proved fake or facebook status updates about copyrights copied and recopied. Fact checking has become a necessity after the fact, rather than checking the facts prior to posting something. Which, I don't know, seems like a smart idea.
Snopes is a great source, but I can't suggest believing everything they say either. Everyone has an agenda, and everyone has a 'truth'.
'Truth' aside, let's stop those Grammar Nazis who rip apart everyone's status updates. Also, what's up with those crazy people who can't take a joke? Seriously. It's the Internet, a place reserved for porn and 140 character interactions. Like many of my friends nights (Sorry about outing you. Really. No judgement, you dirty freak).
So as a plea for the continued digital evolution, can we stop with TMI, with reposting everything without thought, and finally, let's start actually connecting. Let's meet up for drinks. Let's grab a coffee and talk books. Let's stop trying to be catty and witty anonymously, by giving one star reviews or making snotty troll-like comments, but stand behind our words.
