WTF? A Look at Search Terms

I started today by wanting to write a post about the upcoming Pikes Peak Writers Conference. A do's and don't list. They I logged into my blogger and found this:

Seton Hill Whore

Oh my. Yes, this is a search term that someone used to find my blog.

I'm beyond flattered to be associated with the great Seton Hill, whore or not.

So now I'm all caught up in what this person was truly seeking with this search term. Where they in need of a quickie? Was it a lazy vice cop? Any why not expand your hooker search for all of Greensberg, PA?

More importantly, how did my blog become a landing page for this search? What could I have possibly said in a former post to be linked to prostitution at Seton Hill?

Does anyone else have a particularly fun search term?

This news broke my heart. For over five years, every day I open my browser, and read the Bookends LLC Blog. It was the first blog I'd read each morning. I will miss it. Thank you Bookends for so many years of entertainment, knowledge, and support. I learned so much, and I'm sure my career as a writer is, in part, due to the wealth of insight Bookends provided.

So long and thanks for all the fish...

Lesson from the Indie e-Wars

Never judge a book by the cover! Yeah, right. For those who are indie publishing, your cover is the most vital bit of marketing. Don't believe me? I can prove it.

I recently changed a cover of one of my short story collections that hadn't been selling at all. It was ranked somewhere in the 300,000 on amazon.

After the cover change, I've sold more than I'd ever sold of it before. So if your book isn't selling on amazon, change the cover. If that doesn't work, change the description, and then consider a change in price. Who knows what that magic factor is that rockets your book up the rankings, but I will tell you this, it won't get there with a crap cover.

Just back from Left Coast Crime. Had a great time. Met some amazing writers and some super cool readers. The trip made me once again appreciate this business. It really is all about the people. The readers. Thank you.
