Feeling Old

So I'm sitting here writing, and in the background I have on one of those music video channels (not MTV or VH1 since neither play music anymore), and I'm watching a video from My Chemical Romance, and feeling very damn old.

Not only are videos much fancier than the original Video Killed the Radio Star, but they're like mini movies, and more often than not, I just don't get it.

So I wonder if the same if true of books? Are their any books you've picked up by a younger, hipper writer that had you feeling old? I know I have, but I can't think of any at the moment...the Alzheimer's, you know...

Hey, has anyone seen my keys?

  1. Ah, I'm sitting here with the TV off, writing, listening to my MP3 player, and just a few minutes ago, I was thinking to myself, I wish VH1 still had music videos this time of day.

As far as books, I panic whenever I hear about someone younger than me getting published. Christopher Paolini is the first to come to mind, yeah, that guy. And I only have 3 months on him.

Also, favorite music video: Guns and Roses, November Rain.

  2. Those books that are poems in novel-form? Sorry, I can't think of any, but I see them in the YA section. They make me feel really old, because I could just never read something like that now. When I was that age and writing stream-of-consciousness stuff to avoid listening in class, sure. But time does wear on... (And you kids get off my lawn!)
